Campus Enhancement Project: Heritage Gallery

Housed inside the McNamara alumni Center is the Curtis L. and Arleen M. Carlson Heritage Gallery, a captivating collection of exhibits, photographs, artifacts, video and audio presentations telling some of the University’s great stories. Visitors enter through the reconstructed 60-foot high Memorial Stadium arch, preserved from the original stadium, which stood on this site until 1992. Just inside the 2,600-square-foot gallery entrance is the Wall of Books featuring over 5,000 published works of alumni, students and staff. The Heritage Gallery’s exhibits document the many world-changing University inventions and discoveries and include a playful display of life-size University mascots.

The design, construction, installation and on-going operating costs of the Heritage Gallery have been covered by the University Gateway Corporation since the McNamara Alumni Center opened in 2000. The gallery is managed by UGC’s building management staff and the UGC event staff rents the space for meetings and events as part of their revenue generating plan.

The Heritage Gallery is open Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. however it is closed to the public when rented for special events. Please call the event office at 612.624.9831 to confirm the gallery is open if you would like to visit it.
