Campus Recognition Project: Scholars Walk

Developed by the University Gateway Corporation in 2006, Scholars Walk is a stunning walkway nearly four city blocks long that bisects the University’s East Bank campus. It stands as a prominent, permanent memorial to the intellectual achievements of award-winning University faculty and students. The recipients recognized include Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, national academies inductees, distinguished University faculty and teachers, and Rhodes, Truman and Marshall Scholars. Scholars Walk, which includes the Wall of Discovery and Regents Plaza, also features beautifully landscaped garden areas, limestone benches, and distinctive lighting, ensuring a spectacular experience day or night, regardless of season.

In 2016, Scholars Walk was renovated and enhanced with the addition of The Discovery Gallery, featuring a distinctive open-trellis covered chamber with unique day and evening lighting to highlight recognition monuments of famous University of Minnesota luminaries.
